Observation
110-300-0165(2)(d) Licensee had 3 plastic bags accessible in pre-k classroom, six plastic bags in school age cubbies, one plastic bag on top of room dividers in pre-k room. 110-300-0165(3)(f) Licensee has in one-year old room an aquarium that poses a risk of a tipping hazard, and a large set of cubbies in the pre- k room that are not secured to the wall that pose a risk of a tipping hazard. Dispute Description: Please remove reference to 110-300-0165(3)(f) from this observation as it is cited elsewhere in report as Technical Assistance. It can’t be both a Short Term and Serious in Risk Level Classification. If access to plastic bags in pre-k and school age rooms was a serious safety concern and was required to be fixed in five business day, why did the DCYF take eight business days to notify me as director of this concern. I was not available for the walk through, as I was making lunch for the center’s children. Nor did the visiting licensors take the time to point out to me, the Director, any of the serious concerns noted before leaving the center. I would like clarification on this issue of bags being accessible, is there a height that they are no longer accessible. As other parts of the center not mentioned by the visiting licensors have plastic bags at lower heights than those mentioned by licensors. For example, girls bathroom diaper storage shelves are at 50 inches, with extra of diapers in open plastic bags. Yet the bag on top of the 60 inch tall lockers was cited as being accessible to school age, who also use the girls bathroom. I’ll send photos.
